WAR REQUIEM OP66 FULL SCORE MASTERWORKS LIBRARY Format: Paperback

Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem, Op. 66 is one of the most profound choral-orchestral works of the twentieth century, combining the traditional Latin Missa pro defunctis with the powerful anti-war poetry of Wilfred Owen. This full score presents the complete composition for chorus and orchestra, offering conductors, music students, and scholars an authoritative reference for studying, preparing, and exploring Britten’s landmark work.

The score clearly presents the vocal and orchestral writing throughout the work, allowing readers to follow the interaction between chorus, soloists, and orchestra. Additional related editions are available separately, including vocal, SATB choral, and boy’s chorus materials, while orchestral performance materials are available on rental.

This edition is especially valuable for conductors preparing performances, music students analyzing twentieth-century composition, and choral musicians exploring Britten’s dramatic fusion of sacred liturgy and modern poetry. The detailed layout supports score study, rehearsal planning, and academic analysis, making it equally useful in university libraries, conservatories, and personal music collections.

The War Requiem stands as a moving reflection on the human cost of war, and Britten’s musical language balances monumental choral passages with deeply intimate moments drawn from Owen’s poetry. For performers and scholars alike, this score offers a clear window into one of the most significant choral works in modern classical repertoire.
