Synopsis
Volume 2 including Chapters 1 through 3 or the Book of RevelationThe Son of man walking among the seven golden candlesticks consumes these chapters. This is the first Great Vision God gave to Jesus to show to His servants (Rev 1:1). The apostle John wrote, "I was IN THE SPIRIT on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet (Rev 1:10). John journeyed four times IN THE SPIRIT throughout the Book of Revelation seeing four separate Great Visions. These four Great Visions are God's revelation of Jesus Christ given to Jesus to show God's people. These four Great Visions make the Book of Revelation (see description volume 1). The Son of man instructed John to write to the seven angels at the seven churches in Asia - Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea. The individual angels are the seven church leaders or leadership responsible for each church. Every letter follows a protocol. The protocol is 1. the Character of Christ; 2. the Commendation; 3. the Condemnation; and 4. the Challenge. The Son of man outlined these letters using these four with little alteration. This is a great support in grasping the truths found in each letter. A most interesting aspect of the first three chapters of the Book of Revelation is they established the seven angels. The angels are a mystery we find in all four of the Great Visions throughout the Book of Revelation (8:2, 6; 15:1, 6, 7, 8; 16:1; 17:1; 21:9). Their presence throughout relay to us the heavenly involvement of the churches, church leadership, and the church leader with the events of the Revelation. It was the seven angels who sounded the trumpets. These seven angels who poured out the vials. Angels showed the great whore and showed us the Lamb's wife who is the New Jerusalem. We find the seven angels in all Four Great Visions of the Revelation. In this volume, we will discuss the Son of man. Who is he and what does this title mean? We will look into the statement, "things which must shortly come to pass." How can "shortly be two-thousand years? We will look at the Lord coming with clouds and John saying he was a companion in tribulation. What tribulation was John speaking? John found himself IN THE SPIRIT and saw the first part of the four parts of the Book of Revelation - The son of Man in the Candlesticks. We will look into each of the seven letters the Son of man told John to write. Do these churches represent dispensations of time or were these letters written to seven physical churches existing in the time John wrote? This volume closes with a look at Contemporary Theological Views. What do different Bible teachers and theologians say about these chapters of the Book of Revelation? In the following volume, we will study how John was next instructed by the Son of man to enter the Second Great Vision: The Lamb Slain. John again went into the Spirit. John saw the seals opened. He saw the horsemen ride. He heard the trumpets sound and saw the vials poured out. The four horsemen rode in the earth, and the seven angels flew in the heavens. Revelation 4:1 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.Revelation 4:2 And immediately I was IN THE SPIRIT: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.
