REVOLUTIONIZING DENTISTRY: THE ROLE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN ORAL HEALTHCARE

This comprehensive composition explores the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI) across various domains of dentistry. Beginning with foundational concepts, it outlines the history, types, and core technologies of AI, including machine learning, neural networks, and deep learning. It highlights how AI has advanced rapidly in healthcare, particularly through diagnostic imaging, data analysis, and personalized medicine. In dentistry, AI applications span multiple specialties—diagnostics, periodontology, orthodontics, endodontics, prosthodontics, oral surgery, and radiology. AI improves diagnostic accuracy by analyzing dental images like X-rays and CBCT scans, detecting caries, fractures, TMJ disorders, osteoporosis, and even oral cancer. It supports clinicians with predictive modeling, treatment planning, and robotic-assisted surgery. Additionally, the text addresses ethical, legal, and regulatory challenges, emphasizing the need for data privacy, clinician oversight, and the refinement of AI models through clinical validation. Future directions focus on integrating AI into everyday dental practice, training dental professionals.
