THE RISE OF THE RIGHT WING 1964-2006

The terrible result in Iraq is the consequence of bad planning and misbegotten ideology on a scale never before seen in America. This book explains how it developed out of a reactionary right wing movement that came to power with Ronald Reagan and has since dominated the American political scene. The history of the right wing is traced from the Goldwater campaign of 1964 and key aspects of the ideology are examined. With this background, actions of the Bush administration are shown as carefully following the doctrine, often against the nation's interest, as with Iraq. Right wing practice turned a mistake into the worst ever-American foreign policy boondoggle and for the present lost the war on terror. The full dimensions of the Iraq debacle and how the right rose to power are not well understood thanks to the influence of a right wing controlled media and the most successful propaganda campaign in the history of the world. How it achieved this insidious position is another primary topic. How an aristocracy of wealth rose to power and destroyed our manufacturing, our financial well-being, and our international standing makes for a fascinating tale.

John Stinson is a lifetime history devotee and keen observer of the political scene. He specializes in understanding current events beyond what is available in the standard media. To these ends he employs a questioning nature, searching for the plausible in a society of propaganda shaped public opinion.
