First copyrighted 1910. Large 8vo. xiv, 219p. Frontispiece black and white drawing with tissue guard plus 67 other black and white drawings by the author. Decorative endpapers. Green cloth with gilt letters on the spine and with an elaborate gilt cartouche on the front cover with a color reproduction of a painting of a California Mission in it. Very minor wear to extremities with nothing rubbed through, cloth clean and bright, gilt bright, all illustrations in fine condition, tissue guard very good, else near fine to fine with no internal markings. Ernest Clifford Peixotto (1869?1940) was an American artist, illustrator, and author. Although he was known mainly for his murals and his travel literature, his artwork also regularly appeared in Scribner's Magazine. A classic work on California. Seller Inventory # 009379
