A Rachel Rosary (Paperback or Softback)

A Rachel Rosary: Intercessory Prayer for Victims of Post-Abortion Syndrome

A Rachel Rosary: Intercessory Prayer for Victims of Post-Abortion Syndrome by Rev. Larry Kupferman is a beautiful, heartfelt devotional prayer booklet designed specifically for personal or group use in the pro-life movement.

This gentle yet powerful resource adapts the traditional Catholic Rosary into a focused intercessory prayer tool for healing those affected by abortion--especially mothers, fathers, and others suffering from post-abortion syndrome (grief, guilt, depression, relational wounds, etc.).

It draws its name from the biblical Rachel (Jeremiah 31:15; Matthew 2:18), who weeps for her children and symbolizes maternal sorrow. The booklet is widely recommended for:

• Parishes holding pro-life prayer services
• Special days of prayer for victims of abortion (e.g., January 22/23 as encouraged by the U.S. bishops)
• Project Rachel ministries and post-abortion healing programs
• Individuals seeking compassionate prayer that acknowledges deep pain while pointing to God's mercy and resurrection hope

Structure

The booklet follows a modified Rosary format rather than numbered chapters.

• Opening prayers: The Creed, Our Father, three introductory Hail Mary's (for Faith, Hope, and Love), and Glory Be
• Five Sorrowful Mysteries (each with a short Scripture passage, Our Father, ten Hail Mary's with specific intentions, and Glory Be):
  1. The Agony in the Garden
  2. The Scourging at the Pillar
  3. The Crowning with Thorns
  4. The Carrying of the Cross
  5. The Crucifixion
• One additional Glorious Mystery: The Resurrection (emphasizing hope and renewal)
• Closing: Hail, Holy Queen (Salve Regina) with a special concluding invocation for Mary's intercession

Each decade links the mystery of Christ's suffering or resurrection to the emotional/spiritual "deaths" and possible healing connected with abortion experiences.

Key Themes

• Healing for post-abortion trauma -- Compassionate intercession for those experiencing guilt, grief, fear, isolation, relational damage, and other effects of abortion.
• Sorrow and the Cross -- The Sorrowful Mysteries help participants enter into the agony, pain, humiliation, and death that often accompany abortion decisions or experiences.
• Hope and Resurrection -- The final Glorious Mystery shifts to renewal, God's mercy, redeemed lives, and the possibility of new beginnings through Christ.
• Intercession and solidarity -- Praying not only for victims but also for families, counselors, medical professionals, pro-life workers, and society--asking for better education on sexuality, alternatives to abortion, and compassionate leadership.
• Sacredness of life and God's mercy -- Affirming that every life is precious while trusting in divine forgiveness and the Holy Spirit's power to change hearts ("from hearts of stone to hearts of flesh").
• Mary's maternal intercession -- Identifying with Mary's sorrow ("a sword pierced her heart") as she stands with grieving parents.

A Rachel Rosary stands out as a specialized, deeply compassionate pro-life prayer resource. It combines the familiar comfort of the Rosary with targeted intentions for healing and hope--making it a valuable tool for personal devotion or communal prayer services focused on post-abortion reconciliation
