Clarence Bruce was England's most distinguished tennis player in his day, his career taking place in the era between the world wars. He was USA Amateur Champion in 1930 and the British Isles Champion in 1932 and 1938. In addition he won the Coupe de Paris six times and won the Silver Price nine times. In addition he served on the International Olympic Committee and helped organize the 1948 summer Olympics in London. He was made a Knight of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem in 1948 and Commander of the British Empire in 1949. This work is part of the Londsdale Library series, volume XVI.
