It is the thought of Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan that is most often presented in the West as "Hinduism." He was a remarkable man. In addition to having been President of India while Nehru was Prime Minister, and the Indian Ambassador to the Soviet Union, he held the Spaulding Chair of Comparative Religion and Ethics at Oxford University. And he continues to be a culture hero of India.
Radhakrishnan's thought developed in the context of his full life. Robert Minor places his thought in that context. His book traces the influences on him and the growth of his thought from his birth in Tirutani to his retirement to Madras.
The book contains a complete bibliography of Radhakrishnan's writings and of the secondary literature.

Review
“The author has filled a gap that has existed in Radhakrishnan studies for a long time. The book serves as a very good introduction to Radhakrishnan’s life and thought, and one gets a clear picture of his evolution as a thinker.” ― Ishwar C. Harris
“Minor provides a comprehensive look at Radhakrishnan from the vantage point of the religious dimensions of his work. It is done with thoroughness, and the reader is able to encounter the entire range of Radhakrishnan’s reflections.” ― Austin B. Creel
“This book covers a broad range of literature and is an entrance to all of the relevant primary and secondary material on Radhakrishnan. Particularly striking is the manner in which Minor sees Radhakrishnan’s use of such terms as ‘democracy,’ ‘secularism,’ and ‘socialism’ as religious categories in his thought.” ― Robert D. Baird
