Radio Knobs and Scope Dopes

Follow LeCren in an often humorous romp across Canada as he relates true stories of keeping the flying public safe during a career that spanned more than 33 years. From near-death experiences to practical jokes, LeCren lived and worked through an age gone by, often in isolated communities or remote locations accessible only by helicopter or winter ice road. LeCren's memoir will give the reader a new appreciation of work behind the scenes in air traffic control, something readers should think about when planning their next adventure through the lower stratosphere at near the speed of sound in a pressurized metal tube.

"Radio Knobs and Scope Dopes should be heads-up reading for managers, bean counters and caterers in any field, particularly those in Transport Canada and Nav Canada."

- Garth Wallace, noted aviation author and publisher

"I loved this book. It was like having a conversation with Bruce. His style encouraged that conversation, and I hope it does the same for you. If, like me, you are retired from this way of life, or are still in it, please enjoy Bruce's trip. If this is all new to you, I hope the book will offer you some insight into the technical support that allows Air Traffic Control operations to provide Canadians with the services they do. His writing is insightful, the characters involved are many and varied, and the locations his work took him to cover most areas of Canada, including many northern locations. Happy reading!"

- Robert (Bob) Stampe, Retired Transport Canada "Technical Services Branch" and author of "The Port."
