Raised Quilt and Stitch: Techniques, Projects and Pure Inspiration

This practical guide to raised quilting and stitching techniques will show you how to produce a variety of different quilting styles, and then combine them to create contemporary designs. Sylvia Critcher, renowned quilting expert and teacher, will show you how to work techniques including trapunto, Italian quilting, le boutis, French-style cording and English quilting. She then builds on these techniques, combining them to create fresh, stylish designs.

The book is a comprehensive guide for beginners, and takes the reader step by step through a simple pincushion project from start to finish, detailing all the techniques used, and all the stitches needed. With these techniques under your belt you can then tackle the nine further projects, which are all created using the same techniques: a ring pillow, chair cushion, bag, needlecase, lap quilt, runner, table center, wall hanging and full-size quilt. The projects are simple and sophisticated, and all the templates required are given at actual size in a handy pull-out section at the back. Further to this, it contains a helpful section on ‘developing designs’, to help readers take their new skills further and create their own unique pieces. It also contains a gallery of other beautiful pieces to inspire.
