Raising a Handicapped Child: A Helpful Guide for Parents of the Physically Disabled

Tells parents how to accept their child's handicap, gives practical advice on parenting, and discusses treatments, medications, medical research, and progressive and fatal diseases

This compassionate book goes beyond the usual advice for finding good medical treatment and schooling for the disabled. Topics include coping with a devastating diagnosis and dealing with family and friends, scheduling personal time for parents and siblings, having fun with other children, surviving adolescence, and coping with terminal illness. Friendly and frank, with no sermons, this book can enrich the lives of parent and child. Highly recommended.Karen Jackson, Susanna Wesley Sch., Tallahassee, Fla.
