Raising a Pyrenean Mastiff Dog: The Complete Handbook On How To Raising And Caring For Pyrenean Mastiff Dog

Large canines of the Pyrenean Mastiff breed may trace their ancestry all the way back to the Pyrenees, the mountain region that serves as a de facto boundary between France and Spain. The size, power, and protective nature of this breed are legendary. Key features and background on the Pyrenean Mastiff are detailed below.
• When fully grown, male Pyrenean Mastiffs can weigh up to 220 pounds (100 kilograms) and stand 30 to 32 inches (76 to 81 cm) tall at the shoulder. Women tend to be diminutive.
• Appearance-wise, they are stocky and strong, with a double coat that adds warmth in cold weather. White fur may be dotted with varying colors of gray or fawn, especially on the face.
• Temperament: Pyrenean Mastiffs are recognized for their kind and protective disposition. They make wonderful companion animals due to their loyalty, placidity, and warmth toward their human families. They have a stellar reputation for working well with young people.
• For centuries, Pyrenean Mastiffs have served as livestock guardian dogs, keeping herds safe from wild animals like wolves and bears in the Pyrenees Mountains. This protecting instinct is still a key attribute of the breed.
• Although they are not hyperactive canines, they do need regular physical and mental stimulation for a happy and healthy life.
• They are easy to train because they are smart dogs, but they also tend to be stubborn. Due of their massive size, it's crucial that they receive early socialization and training to ensure they turn out to be well-behaved pets.
7. Health: Like many large breeds, Pyrenean Mastiffs are prone to various health difficulties, including hip dysplasia, bloat, and certain cardiac disorders. This breed has to go in for regular checkups with the vet.
The Pyrenean Mastiff, in general, is a magnificent and gentle giant with a long tradition of service as a guard and working dog. It can be a wonderful addition to a family, particularly if you have the space and resources to accommodate their size and activity needs.
