Raleigh House Cookbook

This is the first cookbook I wrote. It contains recipes that I used while operating Raleigh House Restaurant in the Hill Country of Texas for 34 years. It also contains favorite family recipes dating back to my great-grandmother, recipes from friends and some of my own. Methods and ingredients are sometimes revised for easier preparation.

I was born on August 6, 1905 - will be 94 this year (1999). I was married in 1925 to Raleigh White Johnson of Temple, Texas. We had 26 happy years together before he died suddenly of a heart attack. I am a Mother, a grandmother and a great-grandmother. I moved to the Texas Hill Country in 1955 and shortly thereafter began doing a little catering -- which led to opening Raleigh House Restaurant (named after my late husband) and operated it for 34 years before I retired. Upon retirement - my family encouraged me to write a cookbook to keep myself busy. So I wrote Raleigh House Cookbook I...it was so popular they insisted I continue with Raleigh House Cookbook II.
