Map is 69x49 cm., printed on both sides, with tall (23x11 cm.) 46-page booklet with stiff illustrated wrappers. Map is detached from inside back cover. Excellent condition. Each of the two sides has a different version of the same map of the state. The recto is the Rand McNally Standard Map of Minnesota with Air Trails, which the verso has the same map without Air Trails. The Air Trails map has air fields, prominent elevations and other features of significance to aviation overprinted in red. The standard map has railroad lines delineated in red. Inset maps of Lake of the Woods, Cook County, and the vicinities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. The text contains an essay, Elements of Practical Air Navigation by William E. Johnson, which lays out how to set a course and make corrections for wind and other deviations from course. The text also contains a listing of the towns and villages in the state along with a short list of the electric rail lines (trolleys). This is one of a set of Rand McNally maps designed for aviators, among the earliest such maps available to the general public. Seller Inventory # m02438
