Synopsis

In this book the basic problems of random pulse streams are described. The main considered topics concentrate on the analysis of random rectangular pulse stream and investigation of various types of the coincidences among the random streams. The examples of applications of the pulse stream analysis are also given. Special attention is paid to the application of the random pulse streams in the field of communication engineering, in particular in a random access communication and digital information transmission. For better understanding of most concepts of pulse stream analysis, some considerations related to the random-point streams and the probability theory in general are also included. The presented topic seems to be interesting not only because of its various applications but also because of its cognitive value. The book is one of very few monographs on the problems of random pulse streams. In this monograph, apart from the discussion of the most important results from earlier publications, the new results of the author's investigation, especially in the fields of coincidence theory, applications of pulse streams and filtering, are also presented. The constructive aspects of the analysis and interpretations of the discussed problems are emphasized. The book is intended, first of all, for researchers, postgraduate students and engineers dealing with stochastic processes and their applications. It can also be used by students, especially of electrical and electronic engineering with a relatively good background in probability theory obtained from the average course of a higher technical school.
