Item description from seller

Crown 8vo; original biscuit-coloured boards, lettered in red on spine and upper cover; pp. (viii) + 90; some plates; illustrations in text. Trace of foxing to endpapers and outermost leaves. Very good condition. "There is little need to say much to introduce this little book. It is published as a result of an insistent demand from many Old Haileyburians, who wished to have the series of articles, which appeared in the Haileyburian for three and a half years, collected into one volume. . As I draw near the end of my thirty-eight years of service at Haileybury, I can only say that I cannot imagine I could have chosen any other life, half so fascinating and enthralling as this has been. This book does justice, I hope, to the lighter side of this period; it does not pretend to picture the cares and thrills of twenty-eight years of housemastering, or the innumerable friendships made in the time, which are a schoolmaster's greatest reward.".
