Synopsis
This turnkey technology source provides an introduction to rapid prototyping and manufacturing (RP&M) with an emphasis on stereolithography which represents the majority of all rapid prototyping systems currently in place. The content is based on theory, analysis and experiment with extensive test data, including select case studies from the automotive, simultaneous engineering, and medical sectors.
About the Author
Paul Jacobs was born in New York City, received a B.S. from Union College, Schenectady, NY in 1960, and M.S., M.A., and Ph.D. from Princeton University. His dissertation, completed in 1965, involved nonequilibrium phenomena in plasma physics. At Electro-optical Systems Division of Xerox Corporation, California, he was a senior physicist working initially on plasma accelerators and later on laser-based optical systems. One of the originators of the MILES tactical training system currently deployed by the U.S. Army at over 50 bases in the United States, Eruope, and Asia, he was appointed Chief Scientist 1985. Worked as Director of Research and Development at 3D.
