Ratcheting Fatigue and Cyclic Deformation of Advanced Structural Materials

This book provides a comprehensive insight into the phenomenon of ratcheting fatigue and cyclic deformation behaviour in advanced structural materials used in high-temperature engineering applications. Covering the fundamentals of cyclic loading, ratcheting strain accumulation, experimental methodologies, and microstructural characterization, the book presents an in-depth study of modified 9Cr–1Mo steel and Inconel 617 superalloy under asymmetric cyclic loading conditions. It discusses the influence of stress amplitude, mean stress, temperature, stress rate, and microstructural evolution on fatigue performance and structural integrity. Richly supported with experimental observations, metallurgical concepts, and engineering applications, this book serves as a valuable reference for researchers, academicians, and practicing engineers working in the fields of materials science, mechanical engineering, fatigue analysis, and high-temperature structural applications.
