Item description from seller

12mo, half leather with marbled paper covered boards, raised bands and gilt titles & decoration on spine, all edges marbled. 284pp. Shelf wear & some foxing to front & rear, generally very good and clean inside. Edited by Captain Marryat for his friend Edward Howard; only Marryat's name appears on the title page of this edition. This follows the protagonist's life from his birth, early schooling to his life in the navy. Possibly autobiographical, though this was never confirmed. An entertaining read from an author who deserves more recognition.
