The Rawdon Papers: Consisting of Letters on Various Subjects, Literary, Political and Ecclesiastical

The Rawdon Papers: Consisting Of Letters On Various Subjects, Literary, Political And Ecclesiastical by Edward Berwick. This volume collects private and public letters from the 17th century, focusing on Dr. John Bramhall, Primate of Ireland, and the Rawdon and Bramhall families. It presents letters from Lord Wentworth, Lord Deputy, Sir George Radcliffe, the Earl of Orrery, the Marquess of Ormond, and many eminent ministers and scholars, offering a vivid panorama of Irish politics, religion, and society during the Cromwellian and Restoration periods, including Bramhall's Will and a memoir of the Bramhall and Rawdon families. The work also includes an introduction that biographically situates Bramhall and provides context for the correspondence, as well as a series of biographies and footnotes. Originally published in 1819 by Nichols and Sons, this edition preserves the epistolary archive's historical value, illustrating the interplay between Irish governance, the Church of Ireland, and private networks that shaped the era's events.
