In this large format activity book, the authors write that "It is the purpose of READ, COLOR, CUT, PASTE to teach children these four fundamental activities by providing them with interesting, instructive things to do. Family life, and the activities which children enjoy most in the four seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter, are the subjects of the stories and pictures." Maud C. Stubbings was a noted primary school educator in the Chicago public school system. She authored several learning to read books and activity books aimed at children in the first grade. Genevieve Watts was an educator in the [Mark] Twain School of Chicago, also in the public school system. She co-authored several books with Stubbings. Chicago Tribune July 1955.
