Suffolk author Pip Wright has read hundreds of newspapers. Most of them were at least 150 years old. The author has selected stories of crime and punishment, foul weather and practical jokes, together with such local colour as the value of livestock (greater than that of the servants, it seems) or the doctor who had to attend a wedding in case the baby arrived during the ceremony!

This book is a new collection of some of the very best from our ‘local rags’ of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
