The Read Write Inc. Comprehension Modules contain two linked texts and activities designed to develop comprehension skills and provide practice in vocabulary, grammar and writing. This pack contains Modules 6-10 (The Cupboard Under the Stairs, Rose and Ruby, Mary Seacole, Talking About Teeth and The Class Trip). The Modules are part of Read Write Inc. Comprehension which follows on from Read Write Inc. Phonics. It comprises 14 weekly Modules each containing a fiction or non-fiction text and a range of comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, spelling and writing activities. The programme has been developed to increase childrens reading fluency, their comprehension of and response to fiction and non-fiction texts, and to improve childrens writing by developing their vocabulary, grammar and spelling knowledge.

Ruth Miskin is one of the UKs leading authorities on teaching children to read. She has many years experience as a head teacher, teacher trainer and consultant in phonics and literacy, working with primary and secondary schools throughout the UK. Ruth has been an adviser to the government on many aspects of literacy teaching since 1997. Her work has been featured both by Newsnight on BBC2 and Dispatches on Channel 4. Ruth was awarded an OBE for Services to Education in 2011.
