A Reader in Feminist Knowledge

Sneja Gunew places radical socialist, and post- structuralist feminism alongside each other so as to discuss the most important areas of feminist struggle. Gunew incorporates the provocative statements from a range of minority women who have often felt excluded from what they perceive as mainstream feminism.
Consequently this collection includes essays by leaders in the field of post-structuralist inquiry as well as by those immersed in the new spirituality. Significantly, the collection begins with a powerful critique of white mainstream feminism emanating from Aboriginal women in Australia. While the critique is specific, its implications concerning a pervasive racism within the feminist movement have global implications for all feminists.
