Revised edition (original 1950) of textbook reader which includes commentary and exercises, figures, index, 552pp. Approx 15 pages of the first 100 have markings and highlighting in blue ink as do the FFEP. Page edges also marked in ink and soiled. Board edges and spine rubbed, bottom corners heavily bumped, gilt lettering faded. Missing dust jacket. This reader anthologizes key texts to a classical mid-century college education. Before one rails against the canon (dead white males) perhaps one should know what it looks like first. Collectible.
