About this title

Synopsis

The book ""The Realistic Presentation of American Characters in Native American Plays Prior to Eighteen Seventy"" is a historical analysis of Native American plays written before 1870. The author, Perley Isaac Reed, examines the portrayal of American characters in these plays and how they reflect the cultural and political climate of the time. Reed explores the ways in which Native American playwrights used their works to challenge stereotypes and promote a more accurate and nuanced understanding of American identity. Through close analysis of specific plays, Reed highlights the ways in which these works contributed to a broader conversation about the role of theater in shaping national identity. This book provides a valuable insight into the early history of Native American theater and the ways in which it helped to shape American culture. Also Includes A Study Of The Local Literature Of The Upper Ohio Valley. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
