Boards and spine are straight, front cover shows discoloration at bottom edge. Binding is firm, front free end paper has an small ink notation, but the interior is otherwise clean and unmarked. The illustrated dustjacket has chipping and wear at extremities, now protected in a clear archival mylar cover. A historical romance set in Charleston, S.C. and the Florida Keys of the antebellum South, with a foreward by Cecil B. DeMille. Basis for DeMille's 1942 film starring Ray Milland, Paulette Goddard and John Wayne. Carefully packaged and shipped in a sturdy cardboard box.
