Synopsis
The author - physiotherapist and acupuncturist and holder of a law degree - has 35 years of experience in international health care, having worked in The Netherlands, Germany, Canada and on cruise ships all over the world. After years of dealing with the short comings of the system and the impersonal treatment of patients, he decided to write a new approach of taking care of our health. In this approach the patient is central and motivated to participate actively in his search for health. The patient is a respected customer who searches the -well paid- services of health care practitioners and deserves to be treated as such, with honour and respect. This book is for people who want to be involved, independent and responsible, and above all respected customers of the health care industry. About the Author
Pieter is originally from the Netherlands, where he studied physiotherapy, Traditional Chinese Medicine and law. He worked as a physiotherapist and acupuncturist in the Netherlands and Germany, before he immigrated with his family to British Columbia, Canada in 1999. He worked in Canada in hospitals and set up several physiotherapy clinics. He owned an acupuncture clinic in Kelowna, BC, for 6 years. Pieter worked on cruise ships during a couple of years as an acupuncturist, where he treated patients from all over the world. His international background gives him a unique opportunity to mold a view on health and health care, based on his experiences with so many different cultures. Pieter continues to work as a physiotherapist and acupuncturist in British Columbia, where he applies his views on proper health care and motivates his patients to take control over their health as much as possible.
