From his unique perspective on NHL hockey, he has crafted a pleasantly written if somewhat rudderless professional memoir. This meandering collection of anecdotes is made up of three types of stories: penalty box tales of both famous players and lesser lights who have frequented the "bin" in Anaheim where Freeberg works, accounts of the responsibilities of off-ice officials, and yarns detailing hockey history such as the development of the Zamboni machine.
