Recorder Duets from the Beginning: Bk.1 (Book One): Book 1

Recorder Duets from the Beginning - Book 1 by recorder educator and composer John Pitts is a collection of descant recorder duet sheet music from the widely recognized Recorder from the Beginning series. Written for two recorder players and suitable for class ensembles, it provides a varied selection of duet repertoire, with piano accompaniments available in the corresponding teacher's books for flexible rehearsal and performance.

This collection includes 22 duet arrangements presented in standard music notation for descant recorder duet. The carefully selected repertoire spans traditional folk melodies, classical works, sacred music, and original pieces, offering stylistic variety while introducing new notes and rhythms as described in the original publisher information. The collection complements the Recorder from the Beginning instructional series and provides engaging material for lessons, rehearsals, classroom music making, and informal performances.

The broad musical selection encourages players to explore different styles and musical traditions while developing ensemble awareness through duet playing. Performing with another recorder player promotes attentive listening, coordinated rhythm, phrasing, and musical interaction, making the collection a valuable companion for collaborative practice and group music activities.
