Faded purple boards with 'silk' texture, the spines, rubbed, and faded to beige making gilt lettering almost illegible. All edges tipped in gilt. Internally all three vols with black end paper; foxing limited to preliminary and last pages. Vol 2 a little marked in lower margin pages 178/179; contents of all three vols surprisingly clean and unsullied with tight binding. Pp 367 + (1), 364, 359 + (1). All published under this title became Intellectual Observer in 1862.
