Oblong folio (10 4/8 x 16 4/8 inches). 11 lithographed plates of intestines (generally a bit dusty). Contemporary half red calf, marbled paper boards (quite worn). Provenance: with the ink library stamps of the Library of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland on the front free endpaper and elsewhere. Lidth de Jeude was a Dutch physician, veterinarian, and zoologist and was the first director of the newly established Rijks Veterinary College where Veterinary medicine was first taught in the Netherlands in late 1821. His primary contribution to science was the collecting of specimens. In this book Lidth de Jeude illustrates the intestines of various organisms. Catalogued by Kate Hunter.
