The Red Cloak of Mercy

The Red Cloak of Mercy is a dark, luminous reimagining of the Santa Claus myth — a gothic fairytale in the spirit of Guillermo del Toro, where compassion becomes a force as powerful as winter itself.

Born from lightning, stitched into being, and abandoned by the man who created him, the Creature flees into a world that fears his monstrous form. But when he stumbles upon the struggling village of Hollow Pines, everything changes. Instead of inflicting terror, he offers warmth. Instead of hiding in the shadows, he begins to protect the weak, mend broken homes, and rescue children on the brink of despair.

As the years pass, the villagers come to see him not as a horror, but as a guardian — their silent Saint of the Snow. But ancient forces of winter resent the spark that keeps him alive. Shadows made of frost and sorrow rise from the forests, demanding he return to the darkness that birthed him. To protect the people who finally accepted him, the Creature must face not only these winter spirits but the haunting legacy of his creator.

From tragedies, he forges mercy.
From scars, he creates hope.
From loneliness, he becomes legend.

This is the tale of how a monster became a myth — and how Santa Claus was born not from jollity, but from compassion powerful enough to warm even the coldest night.

A sweeping, emotional, and beautifully haunting novel, The Red Cloak of Mercy explores redemption, belonging, and the magic found in broken things finally choosing to heal.
