Red on Red

The basketball player, scout, coach, and general manager tells the story of his five decades in the game, including his championship seasons with the Knicks, and his induction into the Hall of Fame

William (Red) Holzman coached the New York Knicks to their only National Basketabll Association crowns in 1970 and 1973. As in his A View from the Bench and other books, he uses a sports author to write his story. Beginning in New York school yards, Red moved via high school, college, and the Navy to pro ranks as player and coach, taking over the Knicks in 1967. Telling a less than modest but lively, often funny account, he dwells fondly on Bill Bradley, Willis Reed, etc., and affectionately on Phil Jackson and other overachievers.
