The Red Lodge (Fantasy and Horror Classics)

The Red Lodge follows a man who, against stern local warnings, takes up residence in the isolated country house of the title. The dwelling has a notorious history and a deeply unsettling atmosphere. Slowly, meticulously, the ancient malice of the house begins to assert itself. Subtle sounds, sudden drops in temperature, and the constant, chilling feeling of being watched by an evil presence drive the new tenant to the brink.

From the mind of H. R. Wakefield, a pivotal figure in the 20th-century English ghost story tradition and a direct successor to M. R. James, comes a classic tale of a haunting that escalates from dread to pure terror.

This story is an essential read for all fans of classic ghost stories, supernatural fiction, and those who appreciate the slow, unrelenting build of psychological dread.
