Ninth edition (1944). Compiled by Commander F.C. Hanning-Lee, with introductory statement by Vice Admiral and Hydrographer to the Navy J.A. Edgell; Royal Navy. Original pale green cloth with black titles to front and spine 16 x 25cm. xxxiv + 528 + (1) + 2 index maps, numerous full-page and in-text views, in-text illustrations of lighthouses + other inserts and cautions including on pink paper. Including general information about the region, and a glossary table with columns for English, Egyptian Arabic, Anglo-Egyptian Sudanese Arabic, Hejaz Arabic, Yemeni Arabic, British Somaliland Arabic, and Somali. Covers acceptable only, stained and marked. Rear hinge very tender. Interiors good with creasing, marks, some short tears, and light pencil annotation. Admiralty agent's inkstamp to ffep (B. Cooke & Son / Est. 1863 / Kingston Observatory, Hull).
