A new impression of this title which formed part of the Fairy Books series. First published in 1895, this copy is the same as the first edition except that the cover is blindstamped and not gilt decorated. Pages are xii, 419. Externally very little wear, spine a bit faded. Inside, very clean and binding sound. From the library of Dr Alan Gauld, with his name and sticker to the endpapers. Andrew Lang was a Scottish poet, novelist, literary critic, historian, and folklorist renowned for his collections of folk and fairy tales and translations of Homer. Many of the stories for the series were written by Lang's wife, Leonora Blanche Lang, though not credited.
