Como ocurre tambi�n con buena parte de su obra, su concepci�n de la autobiograf�a constituye otra forma de creaci�n en la que realidad y ficci�n se hallan �ntimamente relacionadas. A pesar de que la producci�n literaria de Manuel Scorza tuvo como centro vital, como tema �nico e indiscutible, a su pa�s natal, Per�, su labor fue m�s reconocida fuera de esas fronteras, y "Redoble por Rancas" tuvo un fulgurante �xito europeo. La novela denuncia expl�citamente los abusos sufridos por las comunidades campesinas de los Andes Centrales, de mayor�a ind�gena, y su lucha contra la explotaci�n y la injusticia. Sin embargo, aunque la obra de Scorza responde a una hermen�utica que dialoga con la tradici�n literaria peruana, representada por el indigenismo, trasciende sus l�mites y convenciones, y huye de esa etiqueta en un proceso constante y paulatino que se mueve en dos niveles. Uno hist�rico real y otro ficcional, que desde un enfoque mitol�gico y fant�stico tiene como funci�n constituir una aclaraci�n de la realidad.
