Folio, hardcover, near fine in VG purple pictorial dj. 128 pp; 60 full color plates. Redoute (1759-1840) is one of the greatest and most celebrated of all botanical painters. In his lifetime he published over 2, 000 flower illustrations and achieved recognition as an artist of the first rank. Redoute's love of flowers and his devotion to botanical illyustration began as a child and lasted his lifetime.

One example, I have a John Muir book where he has written in the margins all through it to correct mistakes made by the publisher. (this was confirmed by John Muir historic site for me) I have over 50,000 books and some are quite rare from 1800's to 2020's.
