About the Author: Born in Germany, Arthur Weil came to the US in 1938 as part of the "Kindertransport." He spent his formative years in Chicago where he earned his B.A. at Roosevelt University. He went on to earn his M.A. in History from DePaul University (the only Magna Cum Laude that year), and to study for his Ph.D. at UC Berkeley. He taught History and German in the public schools for 27 years and then worked in real estate. He has published five books of poetry.
