The Relation Of Hans Sachs To The Decameron: As Shown In An Examination Of The Thirteen Shrovetide Plays (1889)

The book ""The Relation of Hans Sachs to the Decameron: As Shown in an Examination of the Thirteen Shrovetide Plays"" was written by Archibald MacMechan and published in 1889. The book explores the connection between the German poet Hans Sachs and the Italian author Giovanni Boccaccio's famous work, ""The Decameron."" MacMechan examines thirteen plays written by Sachs during the Shrovetide festival, a period of feasting and merrymaking before the Christian season of Lent. Through his analysis, MacMechan argues that Sachs was heavily influenced by ""The Decameron"" and drew inspiration from its themes and characters. The book provides a detailed look at Sachs' work and its relationship to the broader literary tradition of the time. It is an important resource for scholars of German literature and Renaissance studies. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
