Seconde édition et première en ce format , complet de ses planches et des frontispices en taille-douce , suivi de "Mémoire touchant l'établissement des Pères Jésuites dans les Indes d'Espagne". Lors de son voyage et sous couvert de chercher à conseiller les Espagnols et les aider à se défendre contre les pirates, Frézier va espionner les ports, les relations commerciales, et les ressources minières du Chili et du Pérou. Les relevés cartographiques qu il effectua seront des informations primordiales pour les navigateurs , Anson les utilisa pour éviter un naufrage mais aussi Bougainville et La Pérouse .La première bonne carte de la rive orientale du Pacifique fut donc française, et Frézier l accompagna d une Relation du voyage de la mer du Sud aux côtes du Pérou et du Chili que non seulement les navigateurs et explorateurs, mais aussi les esprits éclairés de l époque apprécièrent fort . Quelques mouillures claires sinon très bon exemplaire. Seconde édition augmentée de cette importante relation. Envoyé en mission dans les mers du Sud pour étudier les moyens de défense des colonies espagnoles, Frézier doubla le Cap Horn et reconnut la Terre de Feu. De son voyage il rapporta de nombreuses plantes dont la "grosse" fraise, la fragaria chiloensis. Il fut le premier Français à dresser une carte précise du détroit de Magellan et de la Terre de Feu.
