Author is not attributed, Copac states author to be Richard Lucas, a Welsh clergyman and writer of devotional works. This is the third and final part of Lucas' Enquiry after Happiness. The work was first published in 1685 and comprised of three parts, the first discussing obtaining happiness, the second on the true notion of life and this third part, regarding religious perfection. In a full calf binding. Externally, rubbed to the boards and spine. Loss to the extremities and to the head and tail of spine. Front joint is cracked to the tail. Front hinge is slightly strained but firm. Prior owner's inscription to the pastedown dated 1753. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright, slightly cockled. Tidemark to title page. Light spots to the first and last few pages and the odd spot throughout. Very Good.
