Remarks On The Practicability Of Indian Reform, Embracing Their Colonization (1829)

Remarks On The Practicability Of Indian Reform, Embracing Their Colonization is a book written by Isaac McCoy in 1829. The book discusses the possibility of reforming the Native American population in the United States and their colonization. McCoy, who was a Baptist missionary and a supporter of Indian removal, believed that the only way to save the Native American population was to assimilate them into white American culture. He argued that the Indians were unable to govern themselves and that they needed the guidance of the white man. The book discusses the history of Indian relations with the United States government and the failures of previous attempts at Indian reform. McCoy proposed a plan for the gradual colonization of the Indian population, in which they would be relocated to a designated area and given education and training in agriculture and other trades. The book was controversial at the time of its publication and remains a topic of debate among historians and scholars today. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
