Remembering Reputation and Prosperity

A. G. Roeber’s new family history traces his ancestors from poor butcher shops in 16th century Saxony to the “German Mesa” on the western slope of the Colorado Rockies. No simple heroic pioneer tale, theirs is a tangled story of risk and ambition, marriage and divorce, births and untimely deaths, of striving for success, seizing opportunities, settling down, uprooting and settling again, always adapting to forces beyond their control.
