Remnants of the Ancients: A Collection of Stuff and No-stuff

Remnants of the Ancients is a collection of stories, poetry, and other no-stuff which straddles the boundaries between humor, drama and philosophical/religious diatribe. The works range in topic from personal non-fiction (“Debone”, “Some Indulgence You’ll Just Have to Read Through”) to speculative fantasy (“Cookboy”, “Tenmaki Descent”), all book-ended by the quasi-realism novella, “Ascetics Like Us”. The poetry is also diverse in scope and form (“A Good Wife”, “Synthesis Capacity”, “Of the Moral Obligations of an Omnipotent Deity”, etc.). Albert T. Schmitz is a native of Minnesota. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Bemidji State University in northern Minnesota. This collection was originally written under the tutelage of Lauren Cobb as a requirement for completion of the BFA program. Albert also received a Bachelor of Science degree in physics from BSU as well as a Master of Science degree in physics from the University of North Dakota. He currently lives with his wife in Colorado where he is a Ph.D. student at the University of Colorado Boulder.
