About the Author
Jeb Breithaupt, B. Arch, MBA, is the president of JEB Design/Build, LLC, a third generation remodeling and home building company founded in 1953 in Shreveport, LA. Jeb took over the family remodeling and building business in 1983, after his father, Joe, who started the company in 1953, passed away. Joe's father, Bill Breithaupt, came to Shreveport in 1921 to start a masonry contracting business. With a bachelor's degree in architecture and an MBA, Jeb has combined his passion for design with his head for business to build on his father's success and create a $3 million company with a solid reputation for design creativity, dependability, and superior craftsmanship. The company has won many prestigious awards, including an Angie's List Super Service Award, three GuildMaster Awards for outstanding customer service from GuildQuality, and a Better Business Bureau award for Customer Commitment. Jeb is often quoted in construction-industry trade publications, including "BUILDER," "Remodeler," and "EcoHome," and in his hometown newspaper, the Shreveport Times, where he wrote a weekly column on home improvement topics for 3 years. He also has been a columnist for "Remodeling Magazine" and a blogger for "BUILDER." He was a speaker at the 2012 Chicago Remodelers Show, and in 2013 spoke at the NAHB National Convention in Las Vegas. Jeb is known in the art world for his copper plate etchings depicting Louisiana and its culture, with over 11,000 pieces sold in 45 states, Canada, and overseas from 1976-1984. He lives in Shreveport where he and his wife, Robin, a family therapist, raised their four children.
