Two People's Daily newspapers, 2/11/87 and 3/11/1987, numerous photographic illustrations, 4pp, text in simplified Chinese characters, 54.5 x 39cm. Paper browned, light wear at fold, some closed tears and chips repaired with washi not affecting text or images, else in good condition. Of particular interest in the 3/11/1987 issue is the inclusion of large photographic illustrations of the Politburo formed during the first plenary session of the 13th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, in which Zhao Ziyang became General Secretary, and Deng Xiaoping was Chairman of the Military Commission. The front page features Zhao Ziyang, Deng Xiaoping, Chen Yun, Li Peng, Qiao Shi, Hu Qili, and Yao Yilin. Page 2 includes photographic illustrations of the18 other members of the Politburo and a brief biography of seven newly elected members, which included Jiang Zemin. The 2/11/1987 edition includes lists of the 175 members and 110 alternate members of the 13th Central Committee, the 200 members of the Central Advisory Committee, and the 69 members of the Central Committee for Discipline Inspection on page 1. This edition also includes photographic illustrations of: the delegates to the Congress voting to pass the resolution on the report of the 12th Central Committee, of Zhao Ziyang presiding over the Congress, of members casting their votes, of Zhao Ziyang and Li Xiannian entering the chamber behind Deng Xiaoping, and of the closing ceremony.…
