Repent!: U-Turns Required

What if repentance is not rejection—but rescue?

Repentance has often been preached as a threat, heard as shame, or reduced to feeling sorry for sin. Yet Scripture presents something far greater. Repentance is the mercy of God interrupting a destructive path and calling us back into alignment with the King.

In Repent! U-Turns Required, Kirkland M. Rite recovers the biblical meaning of this frequently misunderstood command. Drawing from the prophets, the ministry of John the Baptist, the words of Jesus, the preaching of the apostles, and Christ’s warnings to His churches, he reveals that repentance is more than apology, remorse, or a one-time response at the beginning of faith.

Repentance is the turn.

It is the Spirit-awakened decision to abandon sin, falsehood, spiritual drift, and self-chosen direction—and return to God and His intended way. It reaches the mind, redirects allegiance, changes the road, and eventually bears visible fruit.

God does not call us to repent because He delights in humiliation. He calls us because He knows where the road leads. The command to turn is not proof that Heaven has abandoned you. It may be proof that Heaven is still contending for you.

The road still matters.
The King still speaks.
The Kingdom is still at hand.

Turn—and walk with Him.
