21cm, viii,53p., notes, three-quarter leather, marbled boards, gilt spine title, upper cover detached, library stamps, very good (ds26). - Hugh James Rose (1795-1838), an English Anglican minister, published his highly critical book, "The State of the Protestantism in Germany" in 1825. Rose was very critical of the German Church and received much admonition. Dr. Bretschneider was chief counsellor at the Ecclesiastical Court at Gotha.
